Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Marlee Brunk—the educator and reading therapist behind Read With MB, offering personalized reading intervention, dyslexia therapy, and literacy tutoring for students in grades 3–12 across Colorado Springs and beyond. I hold two Master’s degrees in Literacy and Teaching, and I’m a certified Academic Language Practitioner and Dyslexia Specialist with over a decade of experience helping struggling readers thrive. My approach is rooted in structured, evidence-based instruction that builds skills, confidence, and a love of learning. I live in downtown Colorado Springs with my husband, our daughter Nora, and our goldendoodle, Twyla. Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking sourdough, exploring local coffee shops, and cheering on my students every step of the way.

  • Flexible with scheduling options to fit your family’s routine
  • Rooted in connection — I prioritize building confidence alongside literacy skills

Qualifications:

I’m a certified Dyslexia Specialist and Academic Language Practitioner with over a decade of experience in literacy instruction. I hold two master’s degrees in literacy and reading intervention, and I’ve helped dozens of students make significant reading gains — even those who were years behind.

Curriculum Used:

I deliver evidence-based reading therapy using multiple nationally recognized structured literacy programs. This allows me to provide age-appropriate, intensive reading intervention across a wide range of student needs.

Grades 3rd-6th: A comprehensive, research-backed dyslexia and reading intervention program developed by the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. This program is 230 hours of instruction delivered through a combination of direct teaching, guided practice, and independent application.

Grades 7th-12th: A structured literacy program specifically designed for older struggling readers and adolescents with dyslexia. This program is faster paced and is 124 instructional hours. JET provides age-appropriate, intensive instruction that addresses decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and written expression.

Grades K-2nd: An Orton-Gillingham based program designed to provide early foundational literacy skills, phonemic awareness, decoding, and spelling and handwriting practice to support emerging readers.

“Working with Marlee at Read With MB has been an absolute game changer for our daughter. She was really struggling and would cry everyday before and after school. We weren’t sure how to help her. After just a few months of structured literacy therapy and personalized help, her confidence skyrocketed. Marlee is not only a certified dyslexia specialist, but also incredibly kind and encouraging. Each tutoring session is evidence-based and rooted in the science of reading, and we love that they’re available virtually since we live outside of Colorado Springs. If your child needs dyslexia support or reading tutoring, choose to Read With MB!”

– Aja, parent of 4th grader

“My son was in the first percentile in reading. After just five months of this program, he grew to the 35th ! He actually looks forward to his sessions and his handwriting is beautiful now! She makes learning fun and engaging! She met him exactly where he was at as a reader. I can’t recommend Read with MB enough — this therapy level teaching has been a game changer for the entire family.”

– Emily R., parent of a 3rd grader

Giving Back…

Read with MB is dedicated to making Reading Therapy accessible to all. To further this mission, 10% of the cost of each session is donated to Words Without Limits, a non-profit organization that provides support to students who are unable to afford these costly interventions. We firmly believe that literacy is a fundamental right and that every student deserves access to the resources and support that will empower their success.
